Authenticity, recognition and registration
The apostille authenticates origin; it does not by itself decide recognition of the marriage. Recognition depends in particular on substantive conditions under each spouse’s national law and formal conditions where the marriage took place. Civil-status database registration and a residence grant are separate procedures.
Define the translation scope
Provide the complete certificate, reverse, stamps, annotations and attached apostille, together with the recipient’s language instructions. Confirm how sections already in an accepted language should be handled. Flag transliteration differences between passport and certificate to the translator; do not erase them from the source.
