Healthcare good standing and CCPS certificates in Belgium
A good-standing certificate describes your professional status. First establish whether you are coming to Belgium or requesting a Belgian record to work elsewhere.
Understand the processComing to Belgium: which certificates?
Link to this sectionFPS Public Health requests a certificate from the competent authority of each foreign country where you practised. It must be no more than three months old at the professional visa application. List your countries of practice before ordering records and translation.
Never practised, or an unregulated profession?
Link to this sectionFor someone who never practised, the FPS provides for proof of non-registration or, if the profession is unregulated, a sworn declaration of non-practice. For practice in a country without regulation or registration, it describes a sworn declaration accompanied by employer certificates. Confirm which route fits your circumstances.
A Belgian CCPS for work abroad
Link to this sectionDoctors apply to the Order of Physicians and pharmacists to the Order of Pharmacists. Other professions listed by the FPS, including nurses and physiotherapists, use FPS Public Health. It states that certificates are also available on the visa portal from January 2026. For its route, specify the country and requested language: French, Dutch, German or English.
Time the translation correctly
Link to this sectionAsk whether the record can be issued directly in an accepted language. Otherwise, obtain the final version and send it with the recipient’s instructions. Note the planned filing date, particularly for a foreign certificate subject to the three-month limit. Translation preserves the certificate’s dates; it does not renew it.

For arrival in Belgium, identify the competent foreign authorities and planned filing date. For departure, check the Belgian issuer for your profession.
Preparation advice from CertiDocs #
Fictional example: you practised nursing in two countries. One certificate is already in French; the other is only available in the local language. You confirm acceptance of the first and translation of the second. Check their dates together so both remain usable at filing.
- Keep the service’s written request with each certificate.
